I have seen no attempts whatsoever in mainstream media to even attempt to get some objective numbers on Russian and Ukrainian casualty numbers.

Now consider that this 1M figure massively overrepresents young (18-30yo), ethnically Russian men AND also consider the masses of young Russians that fled due to the war. These are the young men that should be having kids and bolstering economic productivity.
This war is now undeniably a suicidal vanity project. Even if Putin were to annex all of Ukraine, the cost of Russia's demographic future makes that a Pyrrhic victory at best.
