Blair is just a convenient scapegoat. Britain started going to shit when Thatcher sold off all our assets and funded tax cuts for boomers (who were at the time workers) with North Sea oil money instead of doing what Norway did where they created a public wealth fund.

Tony Blair was by far the worst PM ever and is the one who locked Britain on the path it is on now.

He changed loads of shit for the worse, like open borders, tons of laws to restrict freedom and implement punishments for things.
But the biggest changes he made was that he implemented tons of quangos, filled them with his people and them shifted power away from parliament. Before Tony Blair, parliament could do anything as long as they voted on it. Now they have to go through tons of meetings with these quangos and basically get permission to pass any law or edit the law in a way that the people Blair put in place like.

In short, Blair made loads of changes to the law that made things worse for Britain, then he made it almost impossible to undo those changes of law, and then he made it so all future changes to the law had to get his blessing.
Blair has basically been running the country for the past 28 years, although for most of that he's been doing it from behind closed doors.
