My mom made me buy a bed frame when I moved out. It is the biggest hurdle to get me to move out because it is cartoonishly big with drawers under it and if I move I essentially have to take an axe and destroy it. My mom is also obsessed with me using fabric softer on everything when it really isn't needed

I tried this with a cheapie nipponese futon. It's actually quite nice but I live in a super cold climate. So I got a cheapie wood-grain frame. But it has slats. So no more flat surface. Doesn't work. Tatami matts are excruciatingly expensive.

When you move, you typically need to worry about setting up bill payments, wifi, and finding a job. Getting a bedframe is an afterthought, but by the time you're settled in, you're already comfortable enough living as is.
