Right. I’m asking YOU, though, what you would feel is “worth the money”. I’m not trying to bait you into accidentally praising the welfare state I’m just curious. It’s very easy to get so caught up in the principle of how the state is evil that you lose sight of the practical reality. Would you actually go “fuck the safety net, I’m keeping my money”? I don’t think it’s wise. I think the vast majority of people would still want the safety net.

I’m just curious what sort of safety net you’d consider equitable. Would you be against a voluntary safety net if it was graduated by income rather than charging everyone a flat annual fee?
