I would suggest that you consider the possibility of categorizing intelligence as either:
1. book smart vs. street smart
2. chemistry vs. complexity
3. a manifestation of racial/gender prejudice.
The first one is basically a common folk interpretation for the second one. Street smart is something defined by the organization of thoughts over the memorization of details. It's typically also a bit biased in favor of the racial majority.
The second one is a more precise way to explain the balance between genetic inheritances. Too much complexity creates a burden on the chemistry of organization. It's not about being a wunderkind as much as at least knowing when you're getting fed bullshit by said child.
The third one is prejudice, but racial prejudice tends to be imposed by the majority while gender prejudice is imposed by the minority or the majority that isn't in power.
In all of these cases, your actual skills don't matter. What matters is your class and your skills other than actual intelligence.
There are cases where you will see prejudice that isn't explicitly nepotism driven, but in the greater community, nepotism is what drives it.
