Wait
My parents did this to me telling to focus on my education and then my job ruining my social skills with bullshit excuses I need to focus on getting good grades so I can get a good job before I can have friends or a girlfriend then when I got my first it was focus on being financially secure before dating. Now I’m 40 no idea how to talk to people and they expect a grandkid somehow after fucking me over my entire life. My mom outright told me to just get with a fat single mother and that I’m lucky that I get to skip the terrible twos. I am obviously not going to do that. Why did they do this what did they expect would happen? They are not Asian by the way.

The "you ve got your whole live ahead of you" is stupid.
40 is a great time to be alive, and if you had kids when you were 20, they are 20 now and capable of taking care of themselves, living you to enjoy your 40s and 50s when you still have energy to do stuff and enough money

>you can start to enjoy life and socialize in your 40s
This will literally end civilization:

kids are a reason to socialize
in fact kids force you to socialize
you get invited to kids birthday parties and hang out with the parents
you take them to the park where there are more parents
you can go in joint vacations with them, "so the kids can play with each other"
in fact people with kids vastly prefer socializing with other people with kids

I'm single and about to turn 40. Gave up looking for a partner decade ago, but never think to blame that on my parents.
