I disagree. Empathy has caused me mostly grief except for my family who are all deceased. You either feel empathy for people who can never feel it back, or feel it much less than you do, in which case they see it as a weakness or just take it for granted, or you feel it for people you can’t help. The only bright side is you feel happy from making people happy but the harder you try the more it takes to make them happy. I’m so exhausted with feeling the pain of others that I genuinely wish I couldn’t sometimes

It’s also proven by studies that people with Machiavellianism (antisocial personality disorder except with ambition and drive and self control) excel in their careers more than people with empathy

No it is entirely true. Empathy has zero to do with right or wrong. A good example is the Divine Comedy, Dante feels empathy for the damned but he is reprimanded for this multiple times and it is clear within the context of the story that it is considered unethical to feel sorry for those in hell

Empathy isn’t a principle. Empathy isn’t principles. It is simply a feeling of happiness solely because of another’s happiness, or sorrow because of another’s sorry, or feeling someone else’s feelings in general. It can also go haywire where for example you feel sorry for someone and more pain than they actually feel

Empathy can also extend to animals. Which we eat.

This. I have plenty of family members who have been nothing but self-interested pieces of shit. Family does not exist, as it's meant to be portrayed, to me. Family is like a company. Have cousins who insult you at your father's funeral or intentionally give you strep throat and then tell me that family matters. Even my immediate family has a tranny and a pedophile.
