Pentagon just announced unlimited and regulation-free mass production of millions of cheap drones. Looks like Hegseth is drawing proper conclusions from war in Ukraine. I am impressed.

True. You need less regulations and bigger diversification just like times of Cold War. Soviet Union disintegration resulted in radical scaling down of production and creating few fat cats like Lockheed or Raytheon that produce too little and too expensive, and dont really care about R&D anymore as much as they should because they have guarateed orders from the US Army. More competition and decentralisation is needed.

Give them a chance. I am impressed they are capable to notice trends in modern battlefield. Looks like they draw conclusions from Ukraine-Russia war. America has very cheap energy, cheapest in the world, it has access to critical resources needed for such production, they just began to build Industry 4.0 that needs no humans for mass production. America is also global champion in AI, China still slightly lacks behind. They have everything they need to become a total dominator in military tech of the future.

Switchblade was a spectacular failure because it was designed for pinpoint strikes, the 300 models small warhead, equivalent to a 40mm grenade proved ineffective against Russian tanks and artillery, this shit was even too weak to softer targets like infantry or unarmored vehicles. 10-15 minute endurance and 10km range restricted operational flexibility compared to alternatives like fkn commercial FPV drones with grenades. The 600 model with a Javelin-based warhead was more effective but it was a dead-end due to cosmically high price like $100k per unit xD

I hope they drew proper conclusions from failure of their loitering munition in Ukraine

The only good consequence of relatively and cheap slow drones on the battlefield, is the emergence of motorcycle assault units traversing the Killzone and outpacing drones in hysterically dynamic and cool actions.

Propaganda will eventually catch up to the "heroic" inspiration potential of these scenarios and resurrect the imagery of horseback ironclad knights.

Drones are faster. These units get decimated as well, ask Russians. Anyways, this kind of infantry units becomes rational on the battlefield saturated with drones, it is still more effective than fe driving trucks or smth xD

China trails the US od A in AI due to limited access to advanced semiconductors from US export controls, inferior compute capacity, US basically dominating in high-performance AI chips, Chinks have weaker innovation ecosystem and US of A is leading in frontier AI models (40 vs. Chinas 15 in 2024 btw). Chinkoids have less private-sector investment in the field (over $100bln in the US vs. ridiculous $9bln in China in 2024). Heavy regulatory constraints slow down public-facing AI development in China, finally the US is attracting more global AI talent from around the world, like vast majority of leading engineers in OpenAI are from Poland and China (2nd position). Chinks still rely on open-source US models like Llama. Finally China has slower AI diffusion outside major cities.

She didnt know Steven Tyler was her dad til she was 11, thought Todd Rundgren was her pops. Her elf ears for Lord of the Rings melted on her car dash once. Shes fluent in French, sang in That Thing You Do!, and almost quit acting for good before The Leftovers. Shes big into transcendental meditation, helps with stress and mom life. Also, shes an UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and loves vintage fashion, often rocking unique fits. Moved to London for privacy, away from Hollywood chaos. Her only shortcoming is that she has a vagina instead of big juicy dick.

In 1987, Metallica played their first Polish gigs at Katowices Spodek. Fans from Walbrzych, psyched after the show, tracked down James Hetfield at the Warszawa Hotel. They invited him for vodka... and he showed up, chilling like a regular dude. They taught him Polish cuss words like pizda, jebaฤ‡, kurwa etc, he even jotted them down, laughing. Drank some nasty herbal vodka, partied hard. No rockstar ego, just good vibes, making it a legendary night for those fans.

Approximately 80% of components in Russian drones, such as Shahed-136/131, Lancet, Orlan etc are sourced from China. These include critical electronics, cameras, engines, navigation modules, fiber optics, name it. Even China-origin reports indicate China supplies 67% of foreign components, with some estimates reaching 80% for critical electronics. Chinese firms often use intermediaries or disguise parts as civilian goods to bypass export controls. Despite tightened restrictions, dual-use technologies continue to flow af, significantly enabling your drone production. So stop cosplaying as smth more than Chinese junior partner in this field. However, i notice your vast improvement in using drones, war is best improvement-factor

drones are a meme since countermeasures against them are developed rendering most of current ones complete useless soon. Already now the only drone used are the wired ones. EW works in sectors, it is unable to embrace entire drone-saturated battlefield and EW vs drone is a constant fight, both things must be constantly updated. Lasers now are useless against swarms of drones, it is incomparably more effective to use AI-controlled 12.7-35mm robotized cannons with cheap yet effective programmable munitions. The future of anti-drone defence is using drones as cheap anti-drone suicide loitering munition imo. Drones killing drones, basically. The only thing that matters is to make sure that drone-killers are cheaper than drone-assaulters.

Upper brass in the technology requisition realm are very stubborn with adapting to new technology. The navy specifically is a bureaucratic mess because every little subsystem on a sub or carrier has one specific guy assigned to it instead of general mechanics and any repairs are documented down to the washers. Most navy research development is sustainment for existing vessels and trying to convince brass to use stuff like additive manufacturing or drones takes a while at best

EMP can neutralize only some fracture of drones on the battlefield but it cant neutralize new fresh supplies just heading to frontlines. Hardened military drones may resist low-yield EMPs. Battlefield deployment of EMPs is limited by range, cost and collateral damage to friendly systems. Moreover it always generate mirror-response from your opponent which disables you as well.

I literally worked at skydio and none is US made except the software and some plastic parts, they couldn't compete with DJI so they used the nepotism to secure gov contracts to keep the company alive

Thankfully, barrel+ammo is heavy, so we don't have to worry about that much yet.

You might be disappointed. Poles generally like Jews, even subconsiously. If somebody denies official version of Holobolo-event, they act like dogs with rabies for example. If you ever decide to create some serious anti-Jewish global alliance, you better avoid Poles for your own good.

Yeah, what works in assymetric conflict doesnt need to be useful in symmetric one. The US wasted 20 years on hunting wildlings in sandals.

the next great war will be nothing but a rude awakening.
>aircraft carriers/capital ships
waiting to be become obsolete in the opening weeks of the war
>tanks and apcs
already in the dumpster
>infantry doing infantry shit with a shovel

artillery was called the god of war and will be the only thing that is relevant as it did before, granted cheap unmanned artillery and expensive hypersonic ballistic artillery is the way forward.
the future will be nothing but cheap and disposable

there wont be capital ships powered by nuclear reactors carrying 70 planes.
they will be replaced by many vessels that can carry 1-3 planes that can take of vertically, cheaper and disposable
all capital ships are on borrewed time
they are just sunk costs loitering the seas

>artillery was called the god of war and will be the only thing that is relevant as it did before

True. Shooting down a 155mm artillery shell is generally harder than a hypersonic missile. Shells are smaller, faster-moving and follow a predictable, ballistic arc, which leaves a short intercept window (few seconds literally). Shells lack radar signatures and are hard to detect. Hypersonic missiles, though faster are also larger (meters long), they must maneuver at least in final stage and emit stronger radar/thermal signatures, making them easier to track with advanced systems like Aegis or THAAD. Artillery shells require precise/rapid-response systems like CRAM which painfully struggle with detection and reaction time against small, non-maneuvering targets.

just make them as cheap and disposable as they get an you are winning.
make the surgical strike hypersonic missiles as expensive as they can get and make sure they hit their targets.
but for the rest...
most of the casualties in the ukraine war have all fallen to artillery barrages.
the stuff we see on pol is just the icing on the cake.
drones come with video feeds by their nature and have media appeal because of that but they are not responsible for most casualties in the war.

Ukraine uses drones excessively not because it wants to but because economies of entire "collective West" are incapable to supply it with enough artillery systems and shells.
