France’s Parliament has just produced an extraordinary 153-page report that calls for nothing less than a complete strategic realignment of Europe.

The document systematically dismantles the EU's current geopolitical positioning - "vassalized" to the U.S., in the report's words - as a catastrophic failure that has led to the EU seeing "its influence diminish and its interests poorly protected."

Europe keeps getting roped into Daddy America's pursuits for world hegemony as a little sidekick under the premise of "we're in this together because we're Western Civilization".

The effect of this is twofold: firstly, America imposes their rule and their ideology upon the whole world, including Europe, and at the expense of Europeans. At the same time, Europeans, having something resembling Stockholm Syndrome, see this situation as a win, since they consider America to be an extension of themselves, "part of the team", and therefore they feel comfortable being slaves of an another continent, becoming complacent and lose all sense of ambition and European identity.

Having a cool-headed relationship with a partner like China who is visibly different from Europe in every single way would serve as a constant reminder of their own identity as Europeans, and it would also free them of any ideological constraints forcing them to feel submissive love or kinship for their "fellow Westerners" as is the case with the US.
