It seems like more and more each day we're being told that basically everything has microplastic particles in them. Food, water, clothing, tea bags, underwear, keyboards, you fucking name it. Even glass apparently has them now as well. Literally everything is exposing us to this shit. So why does it seem like nobody cares? And why haven't we banned this shit yet?

Think of Maslow's hierarchy of needs in terms of temporal urgency. The hierarchy of focus dictates that you don't give a shit about "little things" when there are "bigger problems". Stuff that matters over the span of decades doesn't matter to people who are living paycheck to paycheck. This is semi intentional, but mostly a consequence of short term greed by governments, financiers and corporations.

Plastics are simply too useful to ban, and we don't understand the health effects yet, so nobody really cares.

If you banned plastics the costs of basically everything is immedietely 10x. Think a keyboard that has to be made from something other than plastic. There are two ways you can go designing this: Metal, or a plastic alternative, like plant based plastics. The metal keyboard is gonna cost legit 5-10x more than a nice plastic one, but at least be a good quality product. The plastic substitute keyboard is going to be much shittier and still 2-3x more expensive.

Now multiply this by everything made of plastic in your life. Your TV's computer monitors, printers, copiers, mice, food containers, every form of packaging...

Plastic is simply too OP to not use it everywhere. If someone hates plastic that is a very good indicator that they are sub 100 IQ.

You can make a keyboard from wood. One of the most important things is to get plastics out of food packaging, plastic keyboards are not the number one problem.

Oh yes we do. Wondering why testosterone levels are dropping and why people are becoming infertile? Plastics are one of the main reasons.

Also even if that is true, it's still worth using plastics. They are just too useful to not use. I literally do not want to live in a world without them.

We don't have to get rid of plastics 100%, we just have to get rid of them enough to not destroy people's health and the environment. Instead of plastic bottles we should use glass bottles for example.
