What is wrong with us. Why can't we just stop mindlessly following the religion of our savage former conquerors and ruining the cohesion for everyone else. My dad says that we have always been heretics and outsiders and black sheep for over a millennium

My dad said that in his town, it was very safe and peaceful (minus the semi-frequent petty theft), but the north side and the south side despised each other from the pits of their hearts and that you couldn't visit the other side without guaranteed harassment of some kind. They had huge brawls every so often

What negative difference would there be in these peoples lives if they just "assimilated" with each other
