what is going on, is it evolution?
sea bird in Finland started to live inlands

sea-magpie has the colouration theme of a magpie but a beak of a seabird

https://www.ksml.fi/teemat/8673991

due to predation, it has stopped living on baltic coast and now lives inland away from sea

it can be found nearby farms as it wont go to cities due to close proximity of too many people

it seems to tolerate swamps now

in a farm setting it makes a nest ontop of abandoned or very rarely used buildings

the bird is considered Non Threatened by its world wide numbers, this is not as good rating as a Least Concern

the bird picks up earthworms and snails to eat, small fish or frog is ok too

farmlands have non ending supply of earth worms

when it lived on sea, it ate clams and mussels after breaking their shells

as freshwater clams and mussels are quite non existent they arent an option

its exclusively a predator and doesnt eat plants

why are you talking like you ARE the bird? "small fish or frog is ok too" like you're implying earthworms and snails are superior? what the fuck OP?

This is just normal, dont worry about it. We had something similar here but with turkeys, a few decades ago you'd hardly find any north of the st-lawrence river but now their pop are high enough that hunting is authorized across the whole province. Also grackles are a lot more common, hardly ever seen any my whole life yet the last decade their numbers and presence up here has grown immensely to the point they're commonplace.
