Patel and Bongino aren't suddenly finding their conscience over Epstein, this is all performative. The push now being made against Pam Bondi over the Epstein files is by design.
This was always the plan.

As long as there's noise, they will be placated.
They'll drip feed out internal drama for as long as they can, then finally let her go.
Then a per-designated upper and comer in the Republican party will call for congressional hearings about her handling of the Epstein files. Might even join up with someone like AOC to placate the portion of the left that cares about Epstein as well.
They'll hold hearings and get all fire and brimstone, but of course nothing of substance will come of it.
