It really should have just never have been made but it's a product of the shit final years of the ussr

Before that place had gotten co-opted the ship had even garnered some admiration there, though not for its primary qualities.
The design itself isn't even that bad, just severely outdated and the ship seems to have also happened to be the locus of some of the biggest embezzlement schemes. Ever since the captain more or less hijacked it while USSR was breaking down the ship couldn't catch a break, not even in a dry dock. Imo it should've been turned into a museum right after returning from its Syrian voyage; that would've ended its service record on a (relatively) high note.
Its sister ships went on to become China's first aircraft carrier and Indian navy's flagship and have fared much better, though both are still on their way out. Both are just for show as well, US is the only country to actually put theirs to good use.

When it did basically its first deployment ever sailing through the Mediterranean all the med countries were pissed cause it was leaking everywhere and russia tried to do some air exercises and then they couldn't land back on the carrier cause its catching wires were fucked so they had to land in israel and the fresh water tanks were also fucked so everyone on board was only allowed like 5 mins of water use a day. It had to be dry docked and worked on instantly after that deployment for like 3 years.

>nafoids claim they are winning as they get bombed in cuckraine without the need of carriers
If anything, the current events in yemen proves that carriers are just big ass targets that at best serve as staging post for planes rather than the big ass weak mobile bases the burgers made their to be. A single hypersonic and they are down.
If they are not used to patrol local or regional waters, they are useless.
Still, i believe russia may invest in a few carriers in the future but in the polar region. They are making nuclear ice breakers and they have a couple already operational if I am not mistaken. Hence why the orange retard was kvetching about greenland, because jewsa has no real presence in the pole.

2) Aircraft carriers are ridiculously expensive and also sitting ducks in modern warfare. Hypersonic anti-ship missiles will make them obsolete as they'll never get close enough to the target to be worth anything

They built 3 sister ships to that carrier and started to build a super carrier and scrapped it's haul after they realized they are incompetent so I think they invested quite a bit into carriers. I wouldn't expect a retard spic like you to understand anything besides sleeping under a tree though. As for yemen good fucking luck hitting a carrier with its layers deep protection from support ships and active protection systems. I am sure russia will be a real threat in the artic once they finish beating ukraine in 45 years.

I'm fairly certain this pic is fake

You see Kuznetsov smoke in many pics because
(1) it uses oil fired boilers rather than gas turbines, and those can often smoke whenever the boilers aren't at the optimal operating temperature (such as after start-up) because the fuel is not fully combusted and so there are a lot of halfway combustion products in the exhaust
(2) Russia often uses low quality mazut fuel oil which exacerbates (1)

True. We may see some drone "carrier" ships in the future though. They don't need ti be mobile bases but simple ships with enough cargo space for a shit ton of drones and perhaps a way to launch them if they are not quad copter type. Now that i mentioned it, missile destroyers can work as drone carriers if the drones are rocket propelled but those may as well be just rockets like the iranian/russian doritos. Perhaps we will see modified destroyers as drone carriers in the future

you need to have disposable small ships.
not capital ships with nuclear reactors that carries 70 planes
but small disposable ones that carry 3-4 planes with vertical lift capabilities.
the capital ships are on borrowed time.
they will all be sunk in the opening week of the next great war.
they will become obsolete just like the they made the battleships obsolete before them.

or maybe they abandoned the idea that they would ever need to contend with the west on the open seas. let the west come to them.. they're sitting on assets that they can depend on.

but as for the waiting game? i think in time, the enemies of the west can only "turtle" for so long until problems arise. for some nations and regions before others. the problem for them is even the areas that are lush and diverse enough to self sustain without reilance on outside help and resources, their population centers are so concentrated that theres a greater potential fallout. the more people there are, the more problems.

as for land locked nations that have little capacity for agriculture. all we gotta do is wait.

but Russia isn't harmless or impotent so to speak. they've just focused their resources into all of their land based systems, both weapons and defense. needless to say they have things big and small.

the gamer in me can't help but think that because of Russia's gargantuan size, its a sort of double edged sword. its easy to assume that more = better, but thats not always the case with many different things. more land / air means potentially more positives/gains and resources. but it also means more territory to keep secure. and they got all this open space that no one even really ones. which they must keep secure otherwise it becomes a vulnerability. so how can Russia manage all that land AND the sea?

meanwhile the western world is mostly physically separated from the rest of the world. this is why Atlantis AKA The Americas is so awesome. its why our Muslims and Jeets are better classed, and why we are so much safer and better off in the long run despite facing similar immigration issues. all the worst people alive right now exist on that eastern side of the world. but, America maintains a strong ability to take the fight to our enemies, land, air or sea.

Russia can't hold onto all that land forever.

Not quite worthless just yet. Remember if you're in range so is the enemy. You'd need to dedicate your whole missile load to the CV, realistically, to sink it. So you've taken down the carrier potentially and left the f18s and remaining surface ships alone to kill ALL your ships.

missiles were not a thing when aircraft carriers came to the fold.
today missiles are a thing.

an adversary doesnt even need a ship as long as they have missiles that can strike your strike group.
you can shoot down one or to or even three or 10.
their costs are cheaper than a ship and will eventually get a strike.

those f18s or their future iterations will just look for a place to land or beg for a fueler to keep them afloat once their carrier gets hit.

For the future I absolutely agree. Simply making things bigger doesn't work forever. For now we need carriers to get our planes to the fight and project power. Their protection has evolved over the decades and you can't get close anymore. A missile that has a chance to get through has some disadvantages. It's huge and less maneuverable, and is out of fuel. You can fend it off with smaller missiles that cost less per unit. The most important thing is, who is the last one with weapons left to fire?

during ww1 the battleship/dreadnought was the power symbol.
nations were ranked by the amount of battleships they had just like they are ranked by the amount of nukes they have today.
times change.
in ww2 the battleship became obsolete and all those investments for making the proud battleships turned out to be for nothing.
the aircraft carriers just ran circles around them and sunk each and every one of them.

times change.
and times will change for the aircraft carrier.
it is what it is.
a hypersonic missile will hit them and there is nothing they can do.
even if it has 10 burke class destroyers with in the perimeter an aircraft carrier will eventually get struck.
it is what it is man.
times do change.
any capital ship is too big of a target and too slow for a hypersonic projectile strike.
