>>510217297 (OP)>is it collapsingNo, obviously not. People mistakenly assume its regime is built upon a social contract whereby they ensure prosperity in exchange for loyalty but this just isn't true. China is a jingoist ethnostate. The CCP rules because they monopolize legitimate force. Most of the country believes in nothing except that the chinese race is under external threat and it needs a strong military and militant government to survive. As long as they believe the CCP is strong, China's regime remains stable regardless of what its financials look like.
>is it a shitholeYes. Most of the country lives without running water. But you're not supposed to see the horrid state that most chinese people live in, because they're all shunted into the hinterland while the big coastal cities are dotted with show cities and excessive megaprojects meant to provide national prestige.
>does it have the potential to be Nazi GermanyIts designs on the asian Pacific are basically the same as the Japanese Empires. It wants to racially dominate the region and leverage strategic resources presently out of its reach in order to pursue a wider war with Europe and the US. Presently lacks the means to secure those resources and pursue that war, but it's very bad at hiding the fact that it's actively pursuing these goals.
>saviour or baneChina's emissions singlehandedly drive climate change to such a degree that if the entire rest of the world stopped burning fossil fuels tonight it would not even slow down the rate of carbon accumulation in the atmosphere. Chinese pollution is destroying the world, but beyond that they are a distant strategic threat not an imminent one.
>organized and competent on the battlefieldlmao
China wants to be an empire that bows lesser races to its bidding, but doesn't actually have the power to dominate anyone but its own race and relies entirely on importing technology and resources from its main political rivals.
