They can't even afford to eat, and a job doesn't even put gas in the car to bring them to a worksite. Also property is the new money so the only people buying are those connected to the people who are printing trillions of US Dollars every week now just to make minimum payment on USA's debt.

It keeps going up by 10k every year. I save some up and then boom priced out. I'm almost 40 and still live at home

Fear of committing, really. There’s all the other economic yah-yah, but of all the people I’ve met who could reasonably afford to buy it’s a commitment issue. They like not being responsible for the long term care of their rentals. They want to feel like any year is the year they move to a bigger and better place.
This is the basic mind plague of the American middle class: paralyzed by all the possibilities and letting it all slip past, throwing away your hard earned money in the process.

idk man i will be soon I just need to save 20 grand and I'm gonna get a 4plex and move in one side. Maybe one day I'll get a house but I'm not getting a loan to buy something that isnt going to at least make me money while my wife and I are working. 2 incomes from work and 3 incomes from apartments I should be comfy for the rest of my life and y son will be able to retire wealthy. Already lost a house in a divorce. I bought an RV, and it’s way better. Kids and I enjoy it, I was worried as they get older they would want more privacy but it works out well. It’s not that easy to just buy property. It takes some effort and most people are too lazy or don’t know about brokers. I swear most people are simply excluded by fear and never even trying. After all, who wants to negotiate with a bank? But a broker makes it all easy for you.
