It became too convenient. Which sounds like "back in my day" bullshit, but I'm serious. You used to have to navigate the web and download whatever you wanted from all kinds of different sites and there was no consistency with anything except your own computer. Now the kids just go to an app store or monolithic content site and everything is there, using simple buttons to navigate. I had to pull up a command line and actually do some light programming because some of the stuff I wanted to do wasn't fully compatible with my system or was just plain old not finished by the developers. If the old computer broke because you downloaded a virus, you had to reinitialize it and start over, because backups were rare and required technical knowledge. Now if your phone bricks, you just trade it in for a new one and all the updates and compatibility are automatic and difficult to work around. Computer technology has simplified itself so much that even more advanced users just don't exposed to the weird janky mess that casual users used to have to learn how to work with.

This whole song and dance has gone on for the past 3 weeks as she tries again and again but I tell her sorry as much as I would like to help that is our options. She then digs deep into the pity cards saying "what happened to the nice man who helped me last time" and "i have breast cancer"
