Millenial here. When I hear "socialism," I immediately think of Mises' comprehensive refutation of the idea, and particularly of his work: Economic Calculation in the Socialist Commonwealth. His arguments were never successfully countered by any socialist, and this is despite the charitable assumptions he provided to their theories in the paper.

They did that for so long, young people started to believe them.
So in the mid 2010s, you had a wave of young people saying "If affordable housing and being able to have healthcare is socialism, I guess I'm a socialist."

Probably the first thing I think is indeed "free-market socialism", like we have here.
After the "petit bourgeois", shop owners, non-physical workers mostly, were given voting rights, they voted people like Lueger who nationalized the railways, public transport, etc. Inside the city that works great till today. Right wingers complain about the Greens for their sentimental refugee-ism, and it's easy to agree, but also the looks of Vienna gets nicer year after years. Streets are blocked for renovation everywhere in the summer, but you know in two years there will be trees and clean pavements and people don't complain too much.
In the US you have car lobbies and no chance at getting good things people collectively pay for, it seems. Why? State management can work. Maybe it works better exactly because there's 7 party debates and no USA type money printer, I donno.

Then you have hospitals being rewarded financially for diagnosing people with Covid which resulted in everyone being diagnosed with it. There is a Federal Reserve (private bank) that controls prices on common goods and uses that as a metric for health of the economy. Most people receive some sort of socialist benefit and that especially includes the rich fags. How do you think Elon Musk got so rich? He was given repeated billion dollar government contracts. They even called this the privatization of space exploration.

Socialism is not really all that bad if it’s controlled with a homogenous culture and people in place.
