For me the question is "do you believe in God?" and the answer is 'no.'
I don't care to change my answer, I enjoy ceremony and go to Pagan events/Christian mass sometimes.

We experience reality through pretty limited senses, the totality od existence could be completeley incomprehensible and unknowable for a human mind.
However, I have no reason to believe that a jewish tribal god, who wasn't even otiginally the head of his own pantheon made it.

It is the peak of human hubris to think we fully understand the universe, much less the nature of God.
Christianity is just one interpretation of the concept of a single almighty, all good god. Monotheists existed before it in many different places.

I'm not an atheist anymore, but here's the thing. I think god is fucking super evil and isn't qualified to have the power he has because he's using it to abuse us.

It was easy to rationalize the world without god because of how much of a fucked up horror clownshow it is where no one is allowed to be happy unless they're evil and like to torture kids and animals. But with god? There's literally zero chance he loves us and zero chance he's good.

Christianity tries to make a convincing argument with the resurrection.
Funnily enough, it's also the thing that distinguishes it from Judaism and Islam.
Jews claim he died by crucifixion and stayed dead, muslims claim he wasn't even crucified.
Christians claim he rose from the dead after being crucified.
Christians claim people saw him after his death.
The apostles died horrible deaths for not denying their belief in the resurrected Christ.

Now, assuming Christ did not rise, why would the apostles die for what they would have known to be a lie?
I think that's Christianity's most favorite argument for legitimacy.

Life-Death-Resurrection is an ancient theme in religions and well predates Christianity. Christianity is just the most popular current version of this story.
What it's based on is people's need to believe that people can come back from death, that death is not the end.
Buddhism is a much more rational religion than any of the Abrahamic faiths - which, really, are just faiths. You have to be a fideist to really believe these religions, as they are not well established by reason alone.

It's not about life and resurrection, the contrary actually. The goal of Buddhism is to escape life and reach the state of actual death without reincarnation.

>In 1997, 39 members of the cult killed themselves in a mansion in Rancho Santa Fe, California. They believed that a spaceship was hiding behind the Hale-Bopp comet, which was flying by Earth at the time. They thought their souls would hitch a ride on the spaceship if they ditched their physical "vehicles" (i.e., bodies) so they collectively committed suicide
I guess they are all now on a space journey!

The universe was made by design and did start with the big bang. The fuck you think "LET THERE BE LIGHT" was? Gods design of the universe is simply too grand for you to completely appreciate. As a matter of fact, it's too grand for any human to fully appreciate as we lack the knowledge base to do so. But from what little we do know, this universe is beautiful and perfect according to it's design. The fact that we exist is a miracle in and of itself, and proof God loves us. By learning we can come to know God. This is his gift to us and why we are made in his image. Our ability to learn and create.

A lot of people have been brainwashed by others to die for religion and ideology.
How many leaders of a cult have died for their belief?
That's the difference.
Christ got martyred for his belief and was resurrected.
His disciples who, according to the bible, denied him then at his trial in the temple were martyred later because they refused to deny him again (because they supposedly saw him resurrected).
>>510391642
Last thing I read, your prophet didn't suicide bomb anything. Instead, he convinced others that he could hear the voice of god or something and convince them to give their women to him.
Again, it's not the leader who died for the faith first. It's always some poor guy who gets deceived.

You are just arguing for the degree of schizophrenia and that's if and only if we accept that Yeshua really did get resurrected. It's a flimsy argument at best man. Even if I were to 100% concede that the apostles really did believe that they saw him rise again, you argument boils down to "more faith = more chance of being real" but this has no logical legs to stand on.

Reminder that the pharisees who conspired to have Christ killed are the same people who later became the rabbinic Jews everyone hates.
Christianity is opposed to them, keep that in mind.
The Torah is still part of the old testament though.
And doesn't even say anything bad, if you actually read it, so I don't know why you'd want anyone to denounce it.
The funny thing about the Old Testament is, that it depicts the Jews constantly disobeying God and paints them in a bad light.
