I kind of always vaguely understood this, even though, growing up, I hated Catholicism and Islamism a lot more than Judaism which I didn't know much about and had a strong cultural bias against recognizing as malicious (I speak for millions here). But what I've come to discover about Christianity is that it's really a Judaism 2.0 that was originally intended as a Hellenistic-Jewish upgrade of Judaism that the Hebraic adherents of Judaism 1.X fiercely opposed, sabotaged, and repurposed into a global slave religion to take revenge on Rome for sacking Jerusalem. Furthermore, Christianity isn't completely evil, it has many sacred and admirable qualities imbued into it, out of the sheer strategic reason that Christianity had to be made genuinely better than its contemporary folk religions (in certain ways for certain demographics) in order to convince enough people to give up their heritage, along the lines of "you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar".

You have to "read" it via /pol/ infographics only to get the version where Jesus (whose Jewish genealogy is laid out first thing in the New Testament as part of his claim to the Messiah role) has no relation to Judaism at all and Jews only appear as antagonists. Even the Roman adoption of it, which at least had some popular support before, was imposed on most Romans by imperial edict well before the religion could organically get a majority. This is also most of the story of how it spreads over Europe, where conversion to Christianity is usually imposed by the ruling class onto the plebs, often as part of peace deals to end wars.

And in any case I think it's the height of delusion to get to the end of a thousand years of Christianity and whine that people just aren't Christian enough. It's still the majority religion, well established in the halls of power and among the people. You have to get all No True Scotsman to save Christianity from any responsibility for our current situation.
