flipping those switches by accident and cutting the engines has happened a couple times in the history of the Boeing aircraft so its possibly an accidental fuck up. i read about a 767 taking off from LA where this happened but they were already about 1600 feet up and able to get the engines started again. they dropped to 600ft before regaining thrust. these guys had no chance.

but then again, that flight was back in the late 1980s before those switches were as protected as they are now. the company issued an emergency requirement for switch guards to be installed on all the aircraft and then released a proper fix several weeks later. the way the switches are now it seems really really unlikely that they can be both accidentally flipped at the same time. you have to lift and move each one quite deliberately due to the little spring loaded catches. you cant just swipe your hand and flip them off.

thing is those switches. they have been designed to be pretty much impossible to just knock into a different position. they have this stiff spring loaded cap you have to pull and hold up as you move them, then it snaps back down to lock it again. there are also pretty big side shields.

it really looks like some kind of deliberate action. check out some pilot forums and stuff, they are all talking about this. i not seeing anything suggesting they think it can be done accidentally.

Hang on that completely contradicts what they said they found, they said they found the switches in the off position, how in the hell could of the engines be regaining thrust and the other relit if the fuel was still off? This whole thing stinks, both pilots went through the same training and those switches are never touched in flight. Besides they would have been trained to do a certain procedure in the event of both engines failing and it isn't fucking about with fuel switches.

Flying is a white man's game and women and darkies should not be allowed to pilot aircraft. The only other race that comes close to being able to do it is Asians and even they're hopeless in emergencies.

This right here indicates suicide. Perfect timing. Perfect unrecoverable problem. No engine trouble was reported prior in the FDR data that would require even USING the cutoff switches. No fire, no alarms, nothing indicated that they needed to cut off a faulty engine. If they were in SE mode, you could say they accidentally got the wrong engine. But nope. 2 good engines. No birds. Locked switches (which survived in their locked up position after they tried to "save" the jet via restart) working just fine. I can't see this being anything other than suicide. There was literally nothing wrong for them to run an emergency procedure. And both pilots were VERY experienced. No way would any pilot break muscle memory and cutoff TWO GOOD ENGINES. Has to be suicide - the only question now is which pilot wanted to off themselves (and a bunch of randoms with him). The other clearly got caught off guard.

It was a Youtube thing that I can't find now, they're all saying the switches were in the run position now. Imagine the situation where someone manipulated those swithces to the off position, got busted and then moved them back into the on position, then did engine startups on both engines, getting both lit and even one with some thrust all in 15 or so seconds while trying to commit suicide doing a low speed crash.
