I finish my exam and I check out what they’ve done. Proudly they tell me something along the lines of “saaar we add the query parameters like you asked”
They collectively literally did just 2 lines of code in over a week, creating a Django view function with wrong parameters, getting the query params(which wasn’t even correct) and nothing else.
This shit is done in 10min max with any junior Django dev.

There was an Indian team that we outsourced to. There was a change we wanted to apply to every repo. Without going into details, the brunt of the work is developing the solution the first time and then copy-pasting the solution on every repo.
The Indian engineer sent out only TWO PRs per day where the change was identical. The change was over 100+ lines on a new file. Biggest slacker I've seen.

Very minor story not IT related, old place I worked had a TIG welder so naturally we had tungsten electrodes for it, usually a lot they came in packets of ten and we had acquired maybe hundreds across different diameters and compositions. Also to transport shit around we had pallets (just wood, nothing fancy of course). So anyway the pallets we got were mostly just what arrived with material, so you'd just reuse the pallets but sometimes the pallets would arrive damaged from shipping and we'd stack them up in the corner of the workshop. You need some wood to wedge something, rest your arm etc? Grab a fucked up pallet. Simple.

Anyway we end up in a lul for work over covid. I mean no shit. We also had gotten a few Jeets for a nightcrew not long before the reduced workload. So they were doing next to fucking nothing with no work and only the nightshift supervisor to mind them.

Anyway come into work, we have some apprentices making the most of it, getting welding units passed on offcut material, making projects for home and all that when one of them comes up and tells me all the tungsten electrodes are gone. Normally if you have a welder at home people will pilfer supplies (it's not encouraged obviously but no one cares unless it's an inconvenience) but taking a few hundred electrodes is a big fucking no. Obvious suspect is the nightcrew. So when they get in the boss stays late to grill them to see if he can find out who did it. Turns out these retards thought the tungsten electrodes, each one 10 to a fitted container, were nails and had been given the directive from the supervisor to clean up the fucked up pallets. Now tungsten is fucking brittle. So they even had to predrill all the manky ass pallets to get the tungsten in there.

What I don't get is they even took the tungsten out of the TIG torch. I don't conceive how they thought they were nails from that alone.

I don't really have a story, but for the last 10 years, around 25% of my job has been rewriting code written by Indians my company hired when they were starting out. It's mostly SQL. They did shit like writing loops to process data sets one row at a time, or writing one massive view instead of using a store procedure and breaking it up into temp tables and CTEs. Also, most of the code is a wall of text with no formatting, like they made it in design view and copy pasted what it spit out. So they would be querying dozens of fields and then only use a handful of the values. I'm expert level at performance tuning and it's normal for me to be able to reduce logical reads by over 90% when rewriting their code.

Working for small company developing embedded devices (vehicle trackers).
Sometimes the guys installing them got the polarity on some sensor wrong. No big deal, the firmware and micro-controller had the ability to flip polarity (essentially just using a different GPIO input pin).
So the controlling website had a setting that could, on a case-by-case basis, flip the polarity of said sensor. It was a slider IIRC. Left was normal, to the right was flipped.

Indian tech support guy asked us to implement a third position further to the right of that slider, in case they flipped the polarity by accident and it was not actually required, to return it back.
