I'm not happy with my government but I have to go along with it because otherwise I will experience their violence. Now, if conditions become so untenable that getting gunned down is a perfectly acceptable possibility, that's how you get revolutions.
And revolutions are the only way to oust corruption. Everyone's political system is a Gordian Knot that makes it impossible for the average citizen to untangle with their vote. The sword is the only option.
However the simple fact of the matter is that people who have food, running water, shelter, and even entertainment don't want to be downgraded to dirty starving insurgents living in caves or woods.
So you grit your teeth and bear it. Governments worldwide are just living testaments to the saying "scum always rises to the top", the majority of a population doesn't want to get ruled by any of these evil incompetent fucks, they just do so grudgingly as a concession to maintain what they have.
