From what I've read and heard many Europeans say, they claim that 'its not a big deal' and they and their previous generations grew up never using AC so they aren't addicted to it and have learned to just deal with heat wave after heat wave.

I'm not sure if its more hubris, stupidity, or just 'cultural'. When I was in Europe a while back, it was HOT as hell and even business and restaurants that had AC set the temp so high it was still uncomfortably warm inside. So warm that it impacted what I ordered. I avoided eating anything hot which kinda ruined a lot of my dining options and experience in Europe.

I live in southern Arizona. It’s 86 F right now. High 80s all week. Had a few days over 100 F. Much more milder summer than the last 2 years here. I live off grid in the desert and don’t have enough power to run AC so it’s been pretty tolerable this year. Sucks to live in places with a heatwave where the inhabitants wilt and die at 82 F degrees.

The logic seems to be, of course people can just disregard it entirely if they wish to, but it’s still worth making the regulation because statistically it’ll save more bottle caps to be recycled. Which seems trivial, but when it comes to millions upon millions of plastic water bottles drank in a year (throughout the EU where they made this regulation recently at least), it probably does add up to a decent amount.
