It's been happening for a while. They have to protect Epstein because if he gets outed as Mossad officially then it begs the question of what other operations Israel might have been running. And then if those get exposed then Israel's funding has its days numbered.

Epstein is connected to Israel, this is why Trump is covering it up. He doesn't want to risk the political fallout for Israel when people realize all of Epstein's clients were blackmailed and used as Israeli assets (including Trump himself).
