To be fair, the Law mandates crumble zones in modern cars. So instead of the impact engergy being transmitted to the occupants the car crumples .

It's design mandated by law.

na car are made to break like that so the part doesn kill you when a stronger impact try to move them through you
if they're too strong it's going to kill you
they made it so it break and the cage protecting the driver is stronger so the rest absorb the impact and break before going through the vehicle pretty neat

Crumple zones MAY save lives but they sure as fuck fuck the owner of the car more. Mandated by law yet insurance companies are not required to cover the full replacement cost of a totaled vehicle so you are left holding the bag on whatever loan amount you still had while also having to get a new vehicle usually with a new loan. You lose and jews win again.

>Flash floods
Yea lets see how that works out when you have infastructure that needs to constantly be repaired and maintained at an extremely high cost due to overpriced contractors, remote areas. Compared to a single truck on an unpaved road that still manages to get there and if a flash flood happens you loose a truck rather than a train and associated rail lines.
But hurr durr its too hard for a faggot like you to understand right?
Instead of bitching about aussie rail you should put that effort into bettering our passenger, not cargo, lines in the US considering they are atrocious. You cant get a train from most major cities to DC compared to all major cities of Europe being interconnected.
inb4 "hundreds of years of development" does not excuse to lack of effort at all towards rail in the last 100 years alone.

Fake, unless the guy had an attached trailer behind him.

Cars of that era had a certain bumper configuration. I don't know what it was called; but it was a piece semi-hard plastic, which created the fake image of continuity between the bumper and the rest of the body. Any car hit above a certain speed would have this part either deformed or broken, which it does not appear to be in the original picture.

Meanwhile, you're going to have a hard enough time keeping the rear bumper on a 1970's american car; and would avoid such stressful activities as touching it, looking at it, or breathing on it. By around 1989, most 1970's american cars had pieces of coat hanger holding up the bumpers (at least here in the rust belt)

That 100 million miles, not people. Also, you have to account for how many more niggers and spics ore on the road killing people. In reality it's like 300* better. Also, the OP picture is because the crash was low speed and the Chrysler Newport weighs more than a mid size truck which is probably double that little shit box. If the car crashed into something solid or a car of equal mass it would be fucked. And the steering column might be in the driver's chest. Same thing happened to me in my old Jeep liberty, which by most retards' standards is a le cucked new crumple zone car - got rear ended by a little shit box in the rain and no perceivable damage.

Ironically the companies lobbied against 5mph bumpers in the 90s. I think it's 2.5 now. One of the few things that isn't the result of government pressure. Also pedestrian safety or something? Idk, it's impossible to get a straight clear answer even from industry heads on where some of these changes come from or what they apply to, like bigger trucks still have solid steel bumpers that have saved my ass against a tree or two.

Unibody is a crumple zone. Body on frame gets superficial damage and can be rebuilt around the frame. That old Chrysler was body on frame. So is my old Lincoln, and any proper pickup truck, a Chevy Tahoe, etc.

It's true that modern cars are safer. I had a wreck with a Cadillac a few years ago, highway speed about 65 mph, car slid backward and into solid concrete and was smushed, but I walked away without a bruise or scratch. The car saved my life.
So I'm not saying modern design isn't better from a safety perspective.
What I am saying is that a hardass solid steel car is way cooler from a badass perspective, though. Sort of like, "Better dead than red."
Maybe it's worth driving a more dangerous car if it's cooler.

And the reason cars today are heavier than the giant boat cars of the 1960s and 70s is only because of all the (unnecessary) accessories and gadgets loaded into modern cars, that also leave no damn space under the hood, so modern cars drive mechanics nuts compared to working on a nice roomy older car.
Older cars had a lot more steel in them. Even the dashboards were metal before the late 1970s. That's where the weight is on older cars.
On newer cars, the body and frame (or unibody) have nowhere near as much steel, but they are nonetheless heavier due to all the accessories added to them.

this video is a good example of how certain areas/parts are meant to be sheared off in a way so that the kinetic energy isn't dumped onto the occupants
i've been in accidents in cars from both makers in this video and walked away with virtually no injuries because their designs worked when impacted
if you got seriously hit driving an old cadillac or w/e like OP's car, you are going slip and fly right off that leather bench and out of that little strap belt, out the window at high speed to kiss some steel or concrete object nearby and become human jam

i wouldn't touch a new bmw or volvo today though, volvo is chinese owned, and bmw caters to the chinese market, both are heavily compromised in every way now

things in motion will want to keep their motion until the energy has been exhausted.

Both times I had ZERO damage. Not even a scuff mark. Both times "crumple zone" cars were all crumpled. That car had no air conditioning and that sucked in the summer but otherwise it was a fantastic car. If you've never used old school power steering it's so light you can turn that big steel land yacht with your pinky finger. On the list of problems devastating white people and the West, "Chink shit" barely even registers.

At this point, I want everyone and everything out of white societies and countries. Blacks and browns are bio weapons used by jews and their secular partners (many of which in foreign nations) to make us weak, so they can dominate.

The only people I would tolerate are some east Asians (e.g. Chinese, Japense, Korean, Vietnamese etc) and some white latinos. Everyone else needs to go.

And China? At least they're run by Chinese, for sure. We shouldn't even be beefing with them. They're our friends. The only reason we are beefing is because Jews. If we got together, we'd all win.

Why are our cars bad? Jews via niggers. They drive up prices, drive up taxes, drive up housing prices, destroy education and public health, and divert funding from R&D and infrastructure to themselves (a black hole, sometimes literally). Among other downstream effects, it makes it impossible for American companies to compete with companies in countries that don't have to deal with those crippling issues.

That's why the American economy and society are at a huge disadvantage. Not because there's fewer people, or we're somehow worse. It's because China doesn't have niggers building their stuff, and Jews and niggers making their policies.

Globalization is practically all because of Niggers. Because of Jews, and their favorite weapon--niggers--we're not allowed to speak against multiculturalism and constantly need to "share" yada yada yada. And yet simultaneously, can't be Christian, and actually try to help others.

If we keep our eye on the ball, and get as many out of white nations as possible, and take our countries back, we wouldn't fear some Chinese imports anymore. We'd be strong and good again. And probably, realize that China is fine.

TL;DR - as always, the problem is the Jews and their niggers more than anything. Even shitty cars.

No lies in this thread. When I was a kid we owned a 90s Dodge Caravan. It got hit parked outside our house by some stupid girl driving an old Doge Ram going 60 in a 35. The van folded like an accordion. Anyone in the back seat would've died instantly, anyone in the middle seats 50/50, definitely multiple broken bones if they lived, front seat would've been ok. The old Ram just had some fender damage on the front passenger side, they were able to easily drive off later.

Now the full truth is somewhere in the middle, because the real answer is "it depends" on the type of accident. In my example and OP's example there is only 1 moving car, and a parked car. In both cases the crumple zone of the modern car is also reducing the force of impact to the old car. Thats why the old cars come out barely damaged, but the new car looks totaled.

If Old and New crashed head on, the Old car would still take considerable damage because of the massive force multiplier, even so you'd be more likely to survive in the Old car than the New car.

However, if it were two Old cars colliding with each other, it would result in massive damage. A head on collision would likely mean everyone dies, even people in the back seat.

Here's a video of some 1960s crash tests.

They should design cars like bumper cars so I can bash all shitskin bad drivers around me.

This is completely true, as they weren't designed to crash. They were strong and stiff overall but had weak points that would collapse, like the roof pillars. Without crumple zones, the steering wheel would be like a cannonball fired at you if you hit something at 30mph. And you would hit it because the seat belt didn't have a shoulder strap.

I love old cars and have a Plymouth of the 60's but there are advantages to crumple zones. Look up vintage car wrecks. People used to get gruesome injuries from low speed collisions. With nothing to absorb the energy, your face would go into the windshield (which was really close), your ribs would crack on steering wheel (or you'd be harpooned of the center of the wheel protuded) and your knees would get penetrated by knobs and the ignition key.
Of course the have little damage and van be fixed cheaply but what's the point when you're crippled.

I was astounded in the 90s watching the kids grow up as relative prisoners.
What I experienced then is nothing compared to what's happening now.
The current generations will never know what life can be, or what it once was. They'll defend the profits of the people fucking them over and ridicule others for not participating in their own slavery, just like they do here.

A lot of them were 1/2 ton frames. A lot of guys will by 70s 4 doors to swap the body onto 90s 1/2 frames. I turned a 77 Lincoln 4 wheel drive that way.

What's cheaper? Replacing your car through car insurance, or the hospital bills that would result from your car being undamaged but your body being mangled or broken in the wreck instead?
Sheet metal is a lot cheaper to mend or replace than bones or muscles.

Steel and plastic, when of similar thickness and driven into each other while attached to dissimilar weights giving steel the advantage, will result in far more damage being done to the plastic than the steel. Who would have thunk it?

Go and look at yearly fatality road deaths. They have basically stayed exactly the same (and even slightly declined) since the 70s and 80s despite a massive increase in population and cars on the road

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motor_vehicle_fatality_rate_in_U.S._by_year

Those old cars are death traps

>You know it doesn't have to be one or the other, right?
You can't have both. A completely rigid structure won't provide any shock absorption in a collision. It would be like putting eggs inside a metal lunch box and expecting them to survive a 2-foot fall onto a concrete floor.
Air bag can reduce the resulting damage to the meat inside only so much. The car itself has to help reduce the maximum g-load the occupants experience.
There's a growing problem with road safety now in that modern vehicles are returning to the weight averages of older vehicles, and in some cases exceeding them. Especially EVs. And the added weight means that they not only are blowing through road barriers that were designed to handle lower averages and higher centers of mass, but crashes between these heavier vehicles and lighter modern vehicles are adding imbalance impact dynamics that are outside of the standard testing practices for crash safety. Ther vehicles with lower centers of mass are launching their opposing vehicles upward more often with strange rotational energy.

The stats like you're quoting are heavily undermined by the reality that those older cars had only lap belts with no general social or legal requirements to use em.
Add a shoulder strap + airbag and add the modern understanding that seatbelts do save lives and I would bet those stats would change quite a bit.
Yes the physics of dispersing energy, etc etc are real and work, but in so many cases outside of speeds greater than 60mph, people died in fender benders because your face smashing into the steering wheel at 35mph is still able to kill you, where a should belt and an air bag will go a long way at those speeds.
And freeways, everyone seems to die no matter if the car is new or old, cuz the speeds are just too catastrophic for the human body.

I think I'll prefer doing that in the ABS plastic crumple suit instead of a suit of full plate - which however will also be quite protective.

>You can't have both.
Open your fucking mind up a little and stop defending the profiteers that steal your life's work while you smile and defend them for it.
100% rigid - danger.
Massive crumple zones to increase costs of repairs so that the insurance industry keeps money flowing and so does the auto industry - 100% unnecessary. It's exactly as unnecessary as Chrysler's favorite tricks of making proprietary shit so weird that no one makes new ones for 20 years after they stop producing parts.
No one is allowed to have anything that lasts, or they won't work their lives away to afford a new one when it breaks or gets destroyed by a teenager on her cell phone.
Crumple zones don't have to destroy the car, but they are often engineered to do exactly that.
Cars DO NOT have to be throw-away under the guise of safety. Longevity is avoided at all costs intentionally. Destruction is engineered into cars specifically to maximize damage, and they tell you they do it to keep you safe. Does it? Yes, but it can be built for both easy/cheap repairs AND safety if they wanted to. They simply don't. The auto and insurance industries both thank you heartily for your shilling, though.
