Portland still hasn't become the next Detroit, despite /pol/'s predictions from 2020. It has plenty of problems, but apparently its population started growing again last year, murders have going down, etc.

Why did /pol/ get it wrong? During the 2020/2021 riots, there were lots of predictions that Portland would be abandoned or white-flighted like Detroit after 1967, but apparently not.

Its had fights and riots for this entire time what do you mean? Its actually worked in Portlands favor because it blunted what was about to be the biggest population migration in human history. Population went from like 90K to 650K in twenty years. However hasn't gone up much in the last five.

Most of the state is a sparsely-populated desert. Oregon would be North Nevada if it weren't for the ocean on the western edge.

portland is a shithole, empty downtown with no stores that aren't boarded up and 2 restaurants for everyone to cram into.

Portland and Oregon in general was a really cool visit last summer for me.

Portland 100% is dying, it's just not going the way of Detroit because the relatively conservative white people and industries aren't being driven out by the massive influx of blacks and offshoring of jobs. Instead, the people who live there are the ones who love the fact that they're in a communist liberal shithole. It's not a place blacks massively congregate, instead it's just a haven for drug addicts and burn-outs and antifa homeless criminals.

It's not going to look like Detroit per se because there will, seemingly, be a consistent population of white liberal fags and immigrants who like that they live in filth and shit. Much like LA.

Portland can't really become Detroit because unlike Detroit, it doesn't have anything to lose in the same way. It doesn't have some massive rich industrial base propping up the entire region that when pulled out from under it, leaves the infrastructure and tax base to crumble.
