I also used to be able to drive 800+ miles in a day, driving 13+ hours straight and stopping only for gas, to pee, and to grab a bite to eat while still driving and making good time.
But I have also developed vertigo that irritates me every time I get up from a crouched position. I get very dizzy.
It doesn't affect my driving, at least not yet, so I'm lucky in that regard. Perhaps I will try truck driving in the future, as long as I get a "no touch freight" deal. Did warehousing for a long time and am just sick of material handling work.

In my life I've found 2 glamorous high paying jobs that anyone can do, with minimal training. Pilot and public figure security. Pilots get to fly all over, but again it's forced travel, at least it's to nice places or when on vacation they fly for free to wherever they want. Public figure security you only need some tactical experience to get into, even just security work, and you get to follow a billionaire around on their travels if you're good enough to make the travel detail. Both of these pay 200-300k once you have time on. Pilot starts around 170k and after 10-20 years you can expect 320-340k+ if you make captain. In travel security you're working 16 hour days so the overtime nets you 250-300k, but it feels more like vacation just on your feet a lot. I hated being on someone else's schedule so I got out of it. Hope this helps some poor anon out there, there are ways to get into the "rich" life and I don't see a lot of truckers there. I've known 2 truckers and they were middle middle class with their wife's combined income, so doesn't seem to pay well.

No it ain't. Where I live there are jobs everywhere that pay $30-40 an hour with 1.5x over 40 hours and you're regularly working 50-60 hours/wk.

I got my Class A, didn't go to school, just studied, took the test, passed that. Then you take the driving test. That is alot more involved, you have to do a complete safety check of the truck and trailer THEN IF you pass that you can take the driving test.

Fuck you. This is exactly what I wanted to do when I was young. Even got a learners permit at age 15 and flew my neighbors float plane a few times. The reality is that you have to log a bunch of flight hours before doing it professionally, and that is EXTREMELY expensive. This is why so many commercial pilots are ex-military. You have to spend a ton of money leasing planes to log flight hours...or join the military to get the gov't to pay for it. Or know someone with a plane that will let you fly it a bunch. Not a job that just "anyone can do"
