What caused the flip exactly?
Why was Trump, <1 year ago, fully willing to commit to the release of the files when he obviously already knew his own depth of involvement that would be revealed in them? Did he wrongly assume he could get the files chopped and redacted in such a way that would sufficiently insulate him from danger, then learn this wasn't feasible, or did he simply use it as campaign fodder he thought people would forget about?

Israel needs public opinion for war

Epstein is connected to Israel, this is why Trump is covering it up. He doesn't want to risk the political fallout for Israel when people realize all of Epstein's clients were blackmailed and used as Israeli assets (including Trump himself).

Epstein was also associated with the Wexner Foundation, which supports Jewish leadership and has ties to Israel. His financial backer, Leslie Wexner, was a member of the “Mega Group,” a collection of Jewish philanthropists, which some, like former NSA counterspy John Schindler, have speculated was linked to Israeli intelligence operations, though no hard evidence supports this. Epstein reportedly invested in an Israeli startup, Reporty Homeland Security (later rebranded as Carbyne), connected to Israel’s defense industry, further fueling speculation."

Epstein was tipped off well in advance of the raid. There is nothing to release. Everything you need to know about him is already out there. The government isn't going to officially release information about the people he blackmailed unless there is a case to be made for criminal prosecution, which is pretty shaky since there is little to know evidence about what happened and it happened in another country. Releasing information for any other reason would be a major violation of privacy and lead to major lawsuits.

Yes, that they were close friends for a very long time. Even if the contents of the files show zero direct involvement from Trump RE: sex crimes/trafficking, but do implicate other powerful people, that alone would seem sufficient for him to want to quash just by the negative stench of association.

Anon we know this is a Trump board but he was always full of bullshit, the only difference is that he's an outsider so his acts are more random and crazy. He still got to play by the rules like everybody else, but since he doesn't know the rules he can't protect himself like many did in the past.
