That's fine, so long as the inside doesn't smell like a rusty bucket.

How do you think it would perform in an Iranian missile bombardment? Not assuming direct hits of course.

this is essentially what i'd build if i had a bunch of money. a little wider and longer, with a basement, half the 2nd story as a half covered deck. lots of slate.

it would be cheaper and easier to just build it instead of converting a shipping container

That'll be $500,000. Also, no financing, since it's not a real house

$10K for the shipping containers.
$50K for the 1/4 acre lot
$30K for the conversion to make it livable
$10K for a well
$5K for a septic tank
$5k to run power lines to the lot if none are already nearby
However much more for building permits and inspection.
Property taxes for your assessed value of $200K
Then it blows over in a hurricane or tornado.

In all honesty, this would be a step up from my 1985-manufactured 2 bedroom mobile home I've been living in since I was 4 years old. I inherited this trailer and the 10 acres it sits on when my granny passed away back in 2019. It has a secondary tin roof over it's original roof & a faux wood cabin siding my grampa installed back in 2002 so it looks like an actual house more than anything. But the interior, wall panels, furniture are all from the mid-1980s so I feel like Im living in a museum of sorts.
