Like wtf it uses the strongest language, and grand theft auto is a strange thing to call something despite the game normalizing it. It's actually just grand theft, GTA is a police lingo to specify it's a car being stolen.
You sound like a layman because indeed USC calls it larceny, which is also still a weird cowboy era word. Some of these laws haven't been changed since the 1800-1900s.
