any group of this size distributed as The Jews are could have just as much influence. I would go as far as to say The Jews hold a sweet spot in size, just small enough that everyone of value can be placed in role useful to the group, and just big enough to have critical mass in a few areas to insure these placements.
I do not think The Jews are special, so I distinguish them from jewish people who don't act in sypothy with the larger group. I think they are the only group of people really really playing the "my people before yours" game.
