If you're only going to read one, Dalton, absolutely no question. It's very much the culmination and product of reflection on all the translations that came before. Addressing their weaknesses and adopting their strengths.
Most people who recommend something other than the Dalton translation simply do so because they read something prior to the Dalton translation existing.
Manheim is a very raw literal translation written by jews, but German is one of those languages that does not translate 1:1 with English, so sentence structure will feel very unnatural and awkward, the bias is also readily apparent. Both editions of Murphy (Standard and Stalag) are rough and unfinished composites by different authors with too many English liberties taken with the translation in the Standard edition. Stalag is more literal, but again a very rough and poorly edited translation. The Ostara publication of the Stalag edition improves it somewhat, and would have been my recommendation if Dalton didn't exist.
