I think it as deemed a "personal incident" (i.e. someone high up in the force was banging/trafficking/blackmailing that femboy or something, and that kid weren't having it anymore so he rightfully went full rambo and staged an ambush knowing his targets would show up), and the national news media was told to drop it and totally memory hole it (after salivating that they could have used the incident for more tyranny overreach on the national scale and in the bullshit "law and order" narrative campaign) because it would highlight gross local corruption and incompetence that could have had a domino effect of uncovering more shady and potentially glownigger related things going on in Coeur d'Alene.
