As for leaving lights on all the time? Uh, no; definitely not something even my folks do.

My grandparents are starting to get like this and it's concerning to witness. They're in their 70s and every time I visit, they're in front of the TV. They haven't slept in their bedroom in over a decade and just sleep on the recliner in front of the TV now, and the TV is on all hours of the night turned to CTV or CBC.
They used to go on roadtrips all the fucking time and do shit outdoors, but don't go out anymore unless it's going to the grocery store or a doctor's appointment. Neither of them have severe health problems either, I think COVID just broke something in them and got them used to staying inside 24/7 (they took COVID insanely seriously, and both got triple vaxxed).
A month ago, a Syrian family moved next door and were obviously causing a fuck ton of problems (family of 12 packed into a 3 bedroom condo) so I tried to drop redpills by asking my grandmother (Anglo Canadian) if she finds it odd that these Syrians don't speak English yet somehow were able to acquire a condo in Ontario, and I got the fluoride stare, followed by some ramble about how "well back in the 50s everyone used to be mad about the Italians and Spanish moving here, but no one cares now". Every time I visit as of late, all I hear about is how good the Syrian family's food is and how they need to use a translator app to communicate with my grandparents.
