So did Ukraine even have a genuine "revolution" or was it an actual western sponsored coup?
We've been talking about Ukraine for years now, yet the events surrounding 2014 are barely mentioned.

Most Ukrainians dreamed of bright European future, only old worn vatniks and "Russian Spring" rushists/ruscists wanted Russian totalitarism back.

President promises closer european relations
Does a 180 kickflip and signs russian deal
Lots of protests, shots fired at people etc. (Fagniks call this part a coup)
National parlaiment along with the opposition comes to agreement (probably CIA somewhere here if you ask r*ssians)
President instead just skidaddles to russia and the vice doesnt want to step up
An interim government is formed from all parties until elections can be held, which is pretty standard in odd situations like this (Fagniks also calls this a nazi coup)

That is pretty much it, tragic events that could have turned out worse that russian assets and useful idiots claim was a coup to justify and grabs and sow confusion in general.

Senator John McCain on Sunday told thousands of Ukrainian protesters camped on Kiev's main square that Ukraine's destiny lay in Europe and that it would make Europe better.

"Ukraine will make Europe better and Europe will make Ukraine better," he said to crowds protesting against President Viktor Yanukovich's U-turn in trade policy away from Europe towards Russia.

"We are here to support your just cause, the sovereign right of Ukraine to determine its own destiny freely and independently. And the destiny you seek lies in Europe," said McCain, a leading Republican voice on US foreign policy.

The presence of McCain at the anti-government rally after a weeks-long stand-off between demonstrators and the authorities further highlighted the geo-political East-West tug-of-war which Ukraine is once again at the centre of. Politicians from Berlin and Brussels have paid morale-boosting trips to the square, drawing denunciation from the Russian prime minister, Dmitry Medvedev, for "crude" meddling in Ukraine's affairs.

McCain is in Ukraine with a Connecticut Democrat, Senator Chris Murphy.

Speaking to CNN on Sunday, McCain said: β€œWhat we're trying to do is try to bring about a peaceful transition here, that would stop the violence and give the Ukrainian people what they unfortunately have not had, with different revolutions that have taken place – a real society. This is a grassroots revolution here – it's been peaceful except when the government tried to crack down on them, and the government hasn't tried that since.

β€œI'm praising their ability and their desire to demonstrate peacefully for change that I think they deserve.”

Asked about Russian president Vladimir Putin's role in the crisis, McCain said: β€œThere's no doubt that Ukraine is of vital importance to Putin. I think it was [Henry] Kissinger, I'm not sure, said that Russia, without Ukraine it's an eastern power, with Ukraine it's a western power. This is the beginning of Russia, right here in Kiev. So Putin views it as most highly important and he has put pressure on Ukrainians – the price of energy, different kinds of activities. The word is very clear that he has made certain threats. Whether he would carry them through I don't know.”

β€œHe's put pressure on Moldova, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia – all of the so-called 'near-abroad'. And of course Ukraine is the crown jewel.”

Asked by CNN host Candy Crowley whether now was a good time to be be β€œtaking Russia on”, given US diplomatic co-operation with Russia on issues such as Iran's nuclear programme and the civil war in Syria, McCain said: β€œI don't think we would be 'taking on Russia'.

β€œThese people love the United States of America, they love freedom – and I don't think you could view this as anything other than our traditional support for people who want free and democratic society.”

>a genuine "revolution"
It wasn't a coup, that's for sure. The resentment had been building for years because Yanukovych had been looting the government and his administration's corruption was endemic. He ended billions of dollars in economic investment by shutting out the EU's bloc opportunities. Ukrainians knew they lost out on millions of good-paying EU jobs. By November 2013 it had reached a boiling point and millions of Ukrainians were attending protest rallies all over the country. Then he imposed the 'dictatorship laws' on fed up citizens and tens of thousands of them took to the streets. That's when Yanukovych ordered his Berkut snipers to fire on street protestors, murdering 77 of them. The president then abdicated his office when he fled Ukraine as a criminal fugitive. His papers led them to dozens of undercover FSB operatives instigating riots and committing crimes in Ukraine, as well as $20 billion is stolen Ukrainian money stashed in Swiss bank accounts.

The Ukraine parliament accepted his abandonment as a resignation and formed a temporary coalition administration without him, but it was still a continuation of the same Ukrainian government Putin pledged to recognize as sovereign and a country whose borders he agreed to respect. Then Putin started lying and broke all Russia's agreements and international law.

Everybody in the West knows that's a lie. Yanukovych quit. He could have stayed, but he knew he committed crimes against humanity when he ordered his Russian Berkut militia to open fire on nonviolent protesters. He freely went home to be with his handler Putin and remains to this day.

There was no coup. Sure millions of Ukrainians were angry at Yanukovych for ending their prospective economic opportunities with the EU. Yes, Ukrainians were upset about Yanukovych allowing FSB agents and agitators to disrupt the protests with violence. Of course they were mad over the FSB cracking thousands of skulls and disappearing dozens of opposition leaders. Absolutely they were outraged over Yanukovych's "Dictatorship Laws".

Despite all that, Yanukovych voluntarily chose to leave Ukraine on his own. He abandoned his office and abdicated his position and left the country. The next day the democratically-elected parliament had no choice but to accept Yanukovych's de facto resignation.

Here in the West, if you decide to stop showing up for work one day, sneak out of the country, become a Russian citizen, never to return - you have pretty much quit your job. HR sees it that way too.

The vote they held to remove Yanukovich was illegal, it didn't follow any constitutional process. Even if you pretend very hard that it was an impeachment procedure, it still failed, because they were like a dozen votes short. What's that if not a coup?

the proof's in the pudding. would a government by the people of the people for the people elect to commit national suicide by provoking a war with the slightly different but significantly more numerous slavs to their east for the benefit of raytheon and blackrock? or would it maintain neutrality between nato and russia due to having significant ties to both in different parts of the country?
