NEA scheduled a teachers strike in my state.
State government immediately agreed to pay 60% of what the teachers wanted immediately, and increase to 100% of what the teachers wanted within 2 years.
NEA told the teachers to stay on strike because the strike was scheduled to last 3 weeks.
So teachers took a 3 week vacation, still got paid, everyone else took it in the ass cause their kids weren't in school and all that happened was the Union increased its political stroke in my state and was funded to do so by the money teachers make from my taxes...which they consistently demand more of while doing less and less actual work.

If they were correct, their pay goes up. If they were wrong, they get fired. Sometimes both in edge cases.

Then they came for the scabs. The scabs are crucial for determining worker worth. If a bunch of scabs can walk up and take your job, it’s more likely you are overpaid than underpaid.

unions for govt employees are fuckin cancer. unions in the private sector can be alright, and normally start with good intentions. muh seniority is by far one of the gayest things you'll to deal with if you work in a union. I work with a 40+ year employee who sits on jobs and pretends he has all sorts of technical issues for months until I come in and get more done in 4hrs than they did in 12 weeks. And if layoffs come around? I'd be the first guy out, while that guy fakes heart attacks to prevent getting shitcanned for napping. On the flip side I do get paid more than I likely would otherwise.

As a union worker I'd say my only real issue with the union was how fucking hard it was to get my foot in the door. There is a lot of nepotism in my union and people getting their retarded family members jobs so it took me over a year finally get my shot without any family connections. Now that i'm in though I don't have many complaints.
