These people straight up do not like America. Problem is, America has done a really bad job of proving its worth in recent years given the widening wealth gap, overeducated college students becoming wage slaves saddled with the most debt anyone's ever seen, and yes, unfettered migration exacerbating the scarcity of all resources and jobs.

They desperately want to try something new because the system has fucked them over for so long. It doesn't matter if socialist policies in these conditions are tantamount to suicide. They'd rather die now than slowly but surely.
