Not even remotely close to why he got killed. It was typical Big Army incompetence that killed him. The actual story is way more frustrating and tragic than the CIA cope.

What's even worse is that it very nearly was his own brother that killed him. Kevin was out on patrol at the same time and it was his unit that engaged with Pat's thinking they were Terry Taliban.
