Historically Bulgaria is what happens when you leave someone alive in Age of Empires 2 with 1 villager. Then an hour later you find a huge base in the corner of the map. Everyone forgetting about us is our biggest power. Us keeping our mouth shut since the end of communism/joining the EU has made us objectively the best country in eastern europe. And subjectively the best country in the balkans. Greeks have better food, but we just copy it, also we arent in crippling debt. Yea Slovenia and Croatia are slightly richer, but not for long if we look at where our economies are trending towards.

Really the only bad thing I can say about Bulgaria is that our capital Sofia is 40% of our economy and its literally the only city that matters if you are a business that wants to build something here. I wish our other cities, meaning 2nd to 10th biggest cities, had the opportunities spoiled people from Sofia like me have. We literally have a saying "Sofia isn't Bulgaria" and as someone who is from Sofia and loves it, its 100% true and unfair how we get all the investments/gibs/free shit.
