Affordable housing
Is Trump trying to kill affordable housing in high property tax states? The Big Beautiful Bill has raised State And Local Tax (SALT) caps on income tax writeoffs from $10,000 to $40.000. This makes buying cheap houses in high tax states a much more appealing option for investor leeches. Illinois is already one of the hottest housing markets in the country, this is only going to make properties shoot higher!
Why do boomers insist on the younger generations staying homeless?

Does the real estate magnate with his kids running his real estate empire want to keep property values high while he's president?

That won't make houses cheaper any more than Kamala's $25K down payment assistance plan. This is guaranted to send property values (and taxes) higher. People who just live in their one home in these states are going to get priced out by tax and insurance hikes.

It won't.
Under current policy, pass-through businesses can elect to remit entity-level taxes which provide a credit against the owners’ individual income tax liability, essentially avoiding the effect of the $10,000 SALT deduction cap on that income. The House raised the cap to $40,000, though phasing it back to $10,000 for high earners (with the phasedown complete at $600,000 in AGI). Pass-throughs other than SSTBs could continue to use PTETs to avoid the cap, while SSTBs were denied their use and are fully subject to the cap. The Senate retains the existing $10,000 cap but strikes a new balance on the use of PTET workarounds.

It reduces the cost of ownership for investors anon. And when they start investing, it will make property values rocket higher because they squeeze the already constrained housing supply.

So prices actually go down? But somehow only for certain types of buyers? How does that work?
I gotta say I'm really skeptical, this sounds like nonsense.

look, it's simple. There's a reason Illinois has cheap properites, because property taxes are high. Investors hate Illinois. They seethe in every thread >>511015785

What's the point of a cheap property if you have to make up the difference in price compared to another jurisdiction in property taxes?
Anonymous (ID: Hq5UrNNu) No.511017030 >>511017764

Its even simpler than that. You are simply wrong and dont have a fucking clue what you are talking about which is why you are continuing to clown yourself when actually knowledgeable posters correct your stupidity

Because a 3500 sqft brick mansion in your state has higher than $3000 property tax. High tax lowers the value, lowering the tax. Investors won't touch it because values go down, not up. Now the values will go up, a lot. Now investors will pile in.

So the high taxes aren't actually high, they're low, because the price is low, because the tax is high?
Yeah I'm calling it, this anon >>511017030 is right, you're just spouting nonsense.
