Bad things happens and you blame god for that while at the same time you likely eat meat causing pain to the animals and their families, while you step on ants, while you kill and cause pain to your enemies. If humans are to have free will than part of that is pain, unless you are happy to be a catatonic blank slate force fed serotonin all day. Quickly you'll realise the joy in life comes from the highs and lows and the interconnectedness of them.
But sure buy the child another ice cream perhaps this time he won't drop it. Does god only give you one chance for happiness in your life? One chance to love? He gives you an entire lifetime of potential icecream if you choose it rather than spend your entire lifetime mourning of that ice cream that dropped when you were young.
