I also spent a year driving around America living in my truck, mostly out west. It is Ohio that I feel drawn to now, like going home. It is real America. I like rural Ohio and never plan on leaving. I like the "boring" lifestyle. I go fishing a lot, hiking, used to hunt. If I want to "party" or see a play I can just take an Uber to Cleveland, which is like a once every 3 years thing.
I also feel very safe and don't have to constantly be on-guard. When I was in Cleveland I could never relax, it's 24/7 on-alert mode.
