It's only the industrial revolution they were caught off guard by (they were in a civilizational low cycle at that time). That time is past. China is back to its normal place and more organized than ever.

It's hilarious how they lack a navy in their whole history and couldn't expand by sea because they were not strong enough. And the 5000-year history is a lie. Most dynasties weren't the same "Chinese" and are a different group genetically and culturally. It's like saying UK and Germany are still part of Rome's 3000-year history and is still alive today.
