After seeing the nothingburger today I came here just to watch the seething and suicide letters. It’s beyond EOY, the jobs didn't disappear, the banks didn't collapse (unfortunately), no more use cases and all the dirty laundry is out in the air now.
It’s not going to be Millennial's Economic Paradise, it will not be the Roaring 20's all over again. The world will not be descending into hyper deflation and prosperity (as was obsessed over for months/years) it will be going on as usual with no major gains or rewards.
I will enjoy watching wagies burn every step along the way.

That's now how much unemployment tax costs. Federal unemployment (FUTA) is 0.6% on the first $7,000 an employee earns, so if you're the only employee we're talking about $42/year.

State unemployment wage bases vary, but are generally charged on the first $7,000 - $10,000 an employee earns in most states (WA is crazy, charging unemployment on the first $30k or something). Tax rates for new employers are usually like 2.5% or something for the first few years, so let's say it's 2.5% of $10,000 - that's $250/year.

Don't like it? Fine, sperg out on your accountant and say you should be exempt from state unemployment tax. Then, because you aren't participating in a state program, you have to pay the full rate of 6.2% for FUTA. You don't get the 5.4% discount anymore.

It sucks but it's a couple hundred bucks. To spend $12k on unemployment you'd need a staff of close to 50 employees and/or high turnover.
