It's a mixed bag. Sometimes it shows criminals chimping out. Sometimes it shows cops pigging out.
Far too often the police would just make shit up and have it admitted as evidence. Now when the police lie about someone yelling and swearing at them and making threatening movements we have a video of the person standing calming saying I don't answer questions getting attacked by the police.

Where I live we only just got body cameras a few months ago, before that the cops lied like Jews about what happened.
The best example of the last few years was when the police made some shit up and beat a guy into a 6 month hospital say, but had actually been caught on camera by the police helicopter in thermal night vision. The police that beat the guy had this huge fake made up story about what happened and the the video dropped showing what actually happened. They got fired and the city paid out big.

Shame the cops didn't get arrested.

And that the crime rate is higher because of this and because they're "unfairly" targeted because of harmful stereotypes. That really, they're "just the same as you or me" and the reason why they have such a hard time in life and face injustice is because of things like racism and prejudice. That it's possible to "break the cycle" by being nice to them, giving them the benefit of the doubt and so on.

That's why campaigning for bodycams made sense, if you actually believe all that the camera should exonerate the innocent blacks.
