U.S. law limits how many green cards can be issued to nationals of any single country in a given fiscal year.

No more than 7% of the total number of green cards in a category (family-based or employment-based) can go to nationals of any one country (regardless of population).

According to the most recent VISA bulletin, the backlog on jeets applying for employment based adjustment is 12 years - EB-2/EB-3 categories. The system is clearly being abused by jeets. Is it time to flush the poo?

By restricting immigration, the government directly intervenes in labor supply, artificially making it scarce resulting in inflated labor costs.

Anti-immigration is anti-free market. If you don't support the unconditional free flow of labor and capital you're literally a communist.

Overall EB Green Cards (FY2023):

India (14.5%)
China (13.4%)
Philippines (8.3%)
Brazil (7.1%)
South Korea (4.9%)

The 7% Per-Country Cap Is a Baseline, Not a Hard Ceiling

No country can receive more than 7% of family- or employment-based green cards unless there are unused visas from other countries.

How India Gets More Than 7%

When some countries don’t use all their allocated visas, the leftover visas are redistributed — and they go to countries with the highest demand and longest backlogs.

Making the 7% a hard ceiling would be a step in the right direction to trim the number of jeets. If nobody wants to come but jeets, does it mean we will be receiving 100% jeets?
