In Commonwealther countries, anything over 500FPS is considered a firearm. That's why pelletguns here are 450fps max. They get the american ones that fire at 1300 FPS, and they make a bleeder hole in the piston. Funny enough if you weld the hold you get 1300 FPS, you're better off just buying the part though which is even more hilarious. You're not allowed to buy the full powered rifle without a firearms license, but you can buy the parts individually and just build the rifle. Ball bearings are much weaker than full sized arrows, but they’ll still pack a punch. They have the added bonus of being able to fit a lot in a magazine.
Full sized arrows with a broad head are much much scarier, they’ll go through cars, skulls, whatever. But a mag typically only holds five.
Half length darts are sort of a mix of both worlds.
Contrary to what it looks like, building a setup that can reliably rapid fire will either cost you thousands for every individual add on, even the magazine can be up to $400 on its own. Or, you can buy a semi auto repeating crossbow pre made, but that’ll set you back $1000-1500.
