AI is making people dumber and dumber
AI, please draw a picture for me! (can't draw and won't learn)

AI, please write text for me! (can't write and won't learn)

AI, please compose music for me! (can't compose and won't learn)

AI, please make a movie for me! (can't make himself and won't learn)

AI, please tell me what to eat! (has zero knowledge and won't learn)

AI, please tell me how to live my life (Zuckerberg, Google's pajeet CEO and Musk: let us take control of your life from you, you can't handle it, little friend)

It amplifies whatever's already there
If you're dumb and lazy it makes you dumber and lazier
If you're the kind of person who builds things and solves problems it enhances those efforts
If you are a disgusting pervert the AI will produce pornography for you so disgusting it will raise your perversion to such heights that even you might think "actually, maybe this is too much"

Addicts use everything "for fun".

Try to take away TikTok from people. They would go crazy, because they're so addicted. But if half a year past, they would feel a lot better and actually meet people in real life.

But the only thing that'll happen is that everyone will be enslaved by big tech. They'll own the world.

AI won't succeed it's developers, but it'll replace workers at a rapid speed. All the wealth will be concentrated in the hands of a few, more so than ever before.

Poverty will drastically increase, because there'll be no jobs for ordinary people.

AI usage is a byproduct of (((society))) demanding more of your time.
Most people would love to draw and make music and whatnot instead of getting a machine to do it, but thats just not possible for most people that have modern responsibilities and commitments.
Quickly generating waifus is a cheap solution.

I use it solely for the purposes of learning and finding connections between disparate topics.
Think of basically as a search engine that you can have a "conversation" with in order to quickly refine your inquiries.
Used in this way, it enhances your learning and thinking rather than replacing and automating it.
It's a tool, and can be constructively or destructively
Just like how the internet can be used for easy access to once-rare information or it can be used to whack off all day

in other words AI filters the lazy and stupid even harder than the sinking standards of western education already does. so the high IQ people who learn new things because of their inner genuine curiosity and desire to learn will be even more distinguished from the rest of the pack.

In any case, I was replying to the OP's implication that AI makes people dumber. My point is that it's not an inevitable or universal effect, it's entirely up to how YOU wield it.

lel, this reminds me of a study done regarding digital learning for kids.
>internet and digital devices mostly weakened learning efficiency because the kids distract themselves with bullshit like instagram instead of learning
>but the study also showed that when actually utilized for learning's sake, using the internet to study hyperboosted learning efficiency

When calculators first became a common thing they did studies demonstrating just how wrong the calculator had to be before people questioned the calculator's answer. They found that the calculator had to be wrong at almost an absurd level before people would claim the calculator was wrong. AI is this on steroids. Already people are using things like Grok and Google AI as definitive sources and "objective" fact. It seems the only way people will question it already is if they say something extreme against the programmed narrative.

Another bad aspect of AI is also being seen on the media/political front. Before when there was anything people didn't like they were trained to scream "fake news" But at least in some cases video was available and rational people could still see an aspect of reality. Now with the ability to modify images and video with AI the brainwashed are given free rein to scream "fake" even more. People with some brains can still distinguish irl and AI in most cases but that won't be the case for much longer. This puts into question everything except direct experience

As to the use of AI for creation I think we are selling humanity's soul. Yes I get it. There are a lot of justifiable peeves relating to the greed and pretentiousness of content creators. But we are already seeing this same shit in AI prompters who consider themselves artists. The bigger problem is that eventually there will be no more real artists for AI to steal from and everything will just become regurgitation of AI from AI

Lastly we have had like 80 years of people writing about letting machines do our thinking. There is no instance where anyone suggests this is a Utopia, at best it is a temporary Utopia before the final dissolution. When the jews tested the first A-bomb they weren't 100% sure it wouldn't ignite the atmosphere but they did it anyway. Its not guaranteed humans won't fight their last stand against battle robots (already developed) so what the heck, lets put machines in control

This is the "optimal use" argument. Now look at reality and see how AI is already being misused to not enhance work but to do work instead, and to not enhance creativity and talent, but to replace creativity and talent. The AI being used to show Taylor Swift getting gangbanged will soon be used to convict the innocent and create alibis for the guilty. Unlike the celebrity court TV, the average person can't afford expert witnesses

AGI is like fusion and peak oil, it's always a decade away. If all humanity amounts to is playing language games and remaining purely a product of culture then AI can surpass humanity with enough data and training as is. If there truly is an objective metric for progress then there's no point to 'intelligence' all you need to know is known.

a little bit of effort fixes common slop mistakes for pictures and text. ai music has also improved a lot, so has ai video. we're already at a point where people cant tell the difference between ai slop "art" and genuine art in a lot of cases (the real tell being noise patterns that are inherent to ai images, but you'd need a third party image editor to really examine that)

But have things been made better? Linking phones to internet opened up social media and the floodgates of propaganda. The overblown covid response created the precedent of "medical" tyranny used for political ends. People with AIDS are literal bioweapons yet their medical status is required to be kept private, but the general populace was OK with having to prove having a shot for something slightly worse than the flu (the biggest joke being these two extremes are brought to us by the same people).

Take a look at history. What was all the pie in the sky things they said about what the internet would be good for in terms of advancing people's ability to obtain knowledge, share ideas and expand cultural access. Instead it's primary function has been porn and propaganda with a heavy side order of invasive consumerism. Do you honestly believe humans are even capable of using AI for good without the good being buried under an avalanche of evil?
