When the puritans landed on plymouth rock, there were already europeans there. Mostly fur traders and fur trappers, who had good relations with the natives. It was the puritans who took advantage of the goodwill the natives had for europeans, and abused them and subjugated the natives, by demanding that they convert or die. Which led to a knock on effect of ever deteriorating relations between Europeans and the remaining natives.

It was the puritans who started the salem witch trails. Over a church. Because some people in their own community were too poor to afford the church and the tax increases it would take for it's upkeep. Those who opposed a new church, were accused of witchcraft and executed! It was the puritans who gave credence to hysterical women's outburst in the courtroom as admissible evidence! Which condemned dozens of women and some men to die on bullshit made up charges! The salem witch trails were nothing more than a punishment of the poor, and a purge of their advocates. Most of the people who died in the salem witch trails were either very paupers or came from rich families who advocated for said paupers. Or those who had evidence against the proponents of the witch trails.
